Thank you for articulating this so well. AI should be used to get rid of the boring, labourious tasks that people don't want to do (even if you pay them money). Regurgitating media that AI teams scrapped off the internet was the low hanging fruit, the minimum viable product. AI companies should get on with making AI useful and fulfilling the promise of General AI.

I love this! As a creative, I don’t need AI to help me create. That’s the one thing I don’t need help with. It’s the boring, monotonous, repetitive tasks that I need AI to sort. Or just clean my room, maybe? 😂

I love your work btw. Love from Nigeria 🇳🇬

The response is absolutely on point.

If you watch any interview that the openAI CTO Mira Murati has given, it is evident that they do not understand the way art works and are grossly generalizing the creation process to sell their product.

Apart from training the models with existing data, the world of art and in fact the real world evolves and the LLMs will need to be updated with it, hence the logical next step is to onboard on the new creativity to by default train the model while continuously undermining the artist and stripping all uniqueness.

AI is not only accelerating the climate crisis but I think collectively making us stupidly believe that it is here for our own betterment.

None of us actually asked for such technology to be thrusted in our faces.

💯agree with your response, we that’s me and my guy we were just discussing the same thing. AI has learnt it’s bit from artist and people in creative field , and the Hype of AI is overrated and the main question is Why ? Why is there a need for AI to be integrated every possible place.

Ideally AI should be used to get ride of grunt work like admin automate it and give more time for people to be creative.

I am glad this article exists 👍

So, somewhat related, can we talk about how audience data is being harvested and sold, without our informed consent, by this very post?

This is the permalink to this very post:

See all that gobbledegook after the question mark in the hyperlink? Those are trackers that harvest my browsing data, then sell it to third parties so that I can be commodified as a product.

If you're going to call out corporate exploitation, maybe start by looking in the mirror. Pretty disappointed to see this from what was one of my favorite artists in the webcomic space.
